Sensei Tirrell Hill - Chief Instructor
Sensei began his Goju-Ryu Karate training at the age of four under the Goju-Kai organization in Ontario. He has dedicated his life to discovering the "true essence of Goju-Ryu karate" and following his training with the Goju-Kai he was introduced to the I.O.G.K.F (International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Federation) and Chief Instructor Tetsuji Nakamura (6th Dan I.O.G.K.F, Chief Instructor IOGKF North America & Int'l Vice Chief Instructor IOGKF) who he has trained with diligently ever since.
Student of the Month January
As we begin 2010, we have chosen a special student from the dojo to represent January 2010. This Karate Ka is a true representation of why Karate is a journey and never a destination. His name is Connor Aucoin. He has been with the dojo from the time it opened in 2005 and following in his dream to be a BLACK BELT. Connor shows all the respect and dedication it takes to learn Martial Arts. He is truly commited and has shown us that he will train and keep practicing no matter how much he has to get done. He is always there to assist the younger kids at the dojo. Connor never passes the desk without uttering those respectful words"Onegaishimasu".
Congratulations Connor. Domo Arigato

Happy New Year!!
Toshigoshi Geiko (New Years Eve Training)
At 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve, 13 members of IOGKF Canada gathered at Shudokan Family Karate Centre (IOGKF Canada Headquarters) and celebrated the new year with the annual New Year's Eve Training (Toshigoshi Geiko) by doing 108 Gekisai Dai Ichi. In Buddhist teaching, all human beings have 108 worldly desires (egos). Every year at New Year's Eve in Japan, temples across Japan hit the big bell 108 times to try to get rid of all your egos and start the New Year with a fresh and clean mind.
IOGKF Canada wishes you and your family all the best for this year. Train Hard!!
